urgh
Just realized that nearly all the links in the last post are bad. URGH. I still have not figured out the dumb trackback crap. I'm fooling around with a blog over on bloglines as frootloop. This is a real testament to my inability to write myself into one streamlined identity.
I'll have to go back and fix the frickin' URLs. As in uuuuRRRRLLL.

Maybe I can help? There's two different kinds of links here. When you look at a post on your site, at the bottom, there's a permalink (which is the URL for the entry itself), and then the trackback link (which provides a different URL). Usually, you link to the permalink in your entry itself, and then enter the trackback URL in a separate window, sometime described as "sites to ping." The trackback then shows up on the other person's site when you click on "Trackback (1)" or however many TB's there are...
I got the sense earlier that you were trying to put TB links in the body of the entry, which won't work, I don't think...
If that's not clear enough, I might be around tomorrow, and we could take a look at your interface together...

Hellooo! Trackbacks at TypePad are a pain in the keister. You have to download the trackback shortcut from the main "weblog" page (I think that's where it is; it's all in the help manual online) then if you want to track back to someone, rather than use that trackback url (which would make things all too easy, of course), you must be on their site, right click for your mouse or click on your shortcut at the toolbar (both of which would have been added during the download) in order to track back the post. AND the default is set not to ping at all so before you begin typing your own blog entry, you must choose that entry in the bottom left corner to ping because if you don't ping it at the onset, it won't ping at all. (At least, that's what Wolf Angel told me when she and I were working it out before she left TypePad.)
It's only a bit more trouble than it's worth. I track back occasionally but usually default to the simple URL link.
Please come comment! I haven't many people in my blogworld that are parents, at all, much less still in school. It's a narrow place to exist!
