An upper. Or something.
The story concerning the REASON we had no heat yesterday is less funny and more scary. The company we deal with has been recently bought out by a larger company. When they put us on the delivery schedule, they (somehow?) put down our OLD (from 2 years ago) address. So our OLD house got 120 gallons worth of heating fuel that we were supposed to get, and then, of course, they were charging my account.

Does that mean you'll get your fuel? I remember dealing with fuel trucks in Indiana. We had one once who couldn't get up our hill because of the ice. It was so cold the toilet water froze. We had a heated water bed and a space heater, but eventually it got so cold, we had to stay in a hotel. We had no hot water or anything. It was awful.

Sorry to hear about the fuel-oil hassle. Hope it smooths over in time for the coming cold snap. Mentioning that the oil was delivered to your old address reminds me of my favorite story from working insurance claims in Detroit all those years ago. A street was being widened and so all the mail boxes were down. Delivery driver, lacking a definitive house number, hooked up the nozzle to the wrong house (the one next door) and pumped 400 gallons of fuel into the basement (where a tank formerly connected to the stem). Homeowners were on vacation. Quite. A. Spill. Makes me hope that the folks at your old address still have a fuel tank to catch the delivery.
