Um, yes, I agree

Just came across this via susansinclair.

I always *felt* this way, that people who don't have kids could only attempt to sympathize with or understand those of us whose lives are marked by the indelible smear of vernix. It's just nice to hear someone else say it, so I don't have to.

Glad you liked it--I particularly enjoy his conversations with his son. But do people really say stupid stuff like, "I have a cat, so I know what it's like?" I mean, I'll make goofy comparisons between dog training and child rearing, but I *know* I really don't know nothing' but rearin' no kids! (You would tell me if I did that, wouldn't you?)

"the indelible smear of vernix" ??? You sent me to the dictionary. Tomorrow morning when I'm making breakfast for my finiky 9 year old, I'll be whisking eggs and toasting a bagel with a big sh*t eating grin on my face.

yes yes people say things like that all the time. The cat, the dog. I understand what it's like, my hamster has been sick. My kitty is my child. I love Fido like he's my son, so I know how you feel.

Maybe this is harsh, but I also don't particularly like fathers who are not the primary care giver comparing their situation with mine, either. I know a couple who are not even particularly involved with their kids who like to point out that they are farther along that their dissertations than I am even and then they say "and I had a baby, too. I know it's hard, but you just have to sit down and do it."

Right. I'll get on that

Where'd you go?!? You've gotten me hooked on your blog, I discovered it when I googled my brother. Here I am in NJ on business ... I've been checking daily for your next installment, and nothing! I'm seriously hooked, I like living vicariously through others ... my life is so boring! Hope you're well ... get back to work! Your readers need you!

I so agree with Anastasia. I hate it when some colleague talks about how difficult his life is because he's got a baby at home and then I find out he's also got a wife who is home with the baby fulltime and doing the cooking and cleaning. Yeah, honey, right, you understand what my life is like.
