a quick request
I'm loading my iPod with an exam playlist made up entirely of songs sans vocals.
I was shocked to see that the only thing in my library that fit this bill is Bela Fleck (this excluding any orchestra/classical music).
I need some good music without the distraction of lyrics. Suggestions?? Please?

Here's what's in my "study" playlist, since I can't write to music that has words:
Frank Zappa - Francesco Zappa
Frank Zappa - Guitar (Discs 1 and 2)
Mozart's Sympony 39
Bach's Brandenburg Concertos
The soundtrack to The Human stain (by Rachel Portman)
Warm and Cool - Tom Verlaine
Vince Guaraldi - A Boy Named Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Charlie Brown's Holiday Hits (laugh if you must, it works for me.)

PS - also a bunch more classical stuff, but I'm not sure what your tastes are...

This is almost unfair - my "sans vocals" playlist, which represents just the ones I actually loaded onto the iPod, is 12 hours long.
George Winston: Linus and Lucy: The Music of Vince Guaraldi
Kaki King - anything
Charles Solbrig - Passion for Guitar
Shadowfax - The Dreams of Children
Amost anything on the Solitudes label, though I recommend such favorites as Natual Concentration, Nurturing Rain or Stream of Dreams (birdie sounds in various selections always a plus)
Piano solos by John Tesh, Gary Jess, or Craig Linder
Piano solos by David Lanz
A variety of classical pieces, including the Brandenburg Concerto mentioned above
Soundtrack from Sense and Sensibility (the Emma Thompson version)
In the interest of furthering your scholarly success, I would be happy to provide you with a collection of my favorites.....

& BP is making you a CD even as we speak. You'll be relieved to know that he did not include the Gene Krupa/Buddy Rich drum battle at the beginning of "Take the 'A' Train." At least, I think he didn't . . . but ya never know, with BP . . .
